With cities and countries now funneling budget into attracting digital nomads, the travel sector has responded with new online travel agencies such as RemoteDream coming to market.
The company credits its rapid route to market to new travel technology called Open Distribution provided by Impala. The new approach to hotel distribution, enabled by modern API infrastructure, makes it fast and easy for any hotel and room seller in the world to work together without exclusivity.
The challenge
RemoteDream wanted to offer a curated inventory of properties worldwide that meet digital nomads’ specific needs. This meant building a unique proposition that highlights a range of requirements such as location, the community features, access to co-working spaces, ergonomic workstations and strong Wi-Fi. It wanted to differ from competitors by allowing customers to find their ideal stay through smart filters, such as their hobbies, the climate or the time zone.
For RemoteDream to select properties and offer them for sale, it would have previously needed to integrate with multiple third parties - a huge barrier to entry for companies with limited resources. The ambition was to develop a strong and tailored property portfolio and launch to market in rapid time while the digital nomad trend is at its peak.
Strategy and solution
Integrating with Impala gave RemoteDream access to thousands of hotels fast and allowed the company to negotiate its terms directly, including agreements regarding long-stay discounts for its guests.
Impala’s booking API seamlessly connects room sellers and hotels so they can work together directly. This enabled RemoteDream to avoid costly integrations with multiple tools – but to still enjoy the benefits of a direct relationship. With Impala, the company was able to integrate through just one platform and therefore save a lot of time and money.

The speed of the integration enabled RemoteDream to allocate its resources away from lengthy integration processes, allowing it to expand more quickly and focus on other areas.
RemoteDream is currently supporting thousands of remote workers each month to get out of the office and work from a new location.
