Hopin, a startup bringing live events online, has acquired mobile app Topi for an undisclosed sum.
Topi is a networking app which Hopin wants to use to drive hybrid events.
Topi co-founders Eric Selin and David Aubespin will join the Hopin team heading up development of hybrid and mobile products.
Hopin, which aims to help companies reduce the environmental impact of events by bringing them online, has seen rapid growth this year rising from six employees a year ago to almost 300 now, driven by the pandemic and companies looking for alternatives to real-life events.
It raised $125 million in a Series B investment in November, a third round for the company after raising $40 million in the Summer and $6.5 million in February.
Commenting on the acquisition in a blog post, Aubespin says Topi’s technology enables users to connect with other people with shared interests and widen their communities beyond real-life events.
