Experiences platform Klook and Google Cloud are expanding their artificial intelligence partnership to help address travelers’ and merchants’ needs through the development of a new AI infrastructure layer.
Through the expanded partnership, Klook plans to introduce a “shopping guide” feature using generative AI to help travelers make informed decisions by boosting comparison functionality and highlight differences where experiences are similar.
The companies also plan to unveil solutions to help merchants drive efficiency through business insights. Klook said that by making user reviews into actionable feedback, one partner was able to launch a new product which now accounts for 24% of total revenue.
Meanwhile, Klook engineers are using Gemini Code Assist to optimize code generation and platform testing which the company said is resulting in a 60% increase in code review efficiency and a 70% improvement in platform performance.

“Even in our earliest explorations with Google Cloud, generative AI has improved Klook’s ability to drive greater efficiencies at scale as we expanded our global footprint, while enabling our teams to innovate and operate more efficiently,” said Bernie Xiong, co-founder and chief technology officer of Klook.
Through the partnership, Klook has also used generative AI to create content for its travel pages, which the company said improved translation accuracy and the quality of content and has cut production time by upwards of 80%.
Karan Bajwa, vice president of Google Cloud in Asia Pacific, said the new AI infrastructure layer should bolster business innovation while also reducing instances of duplicated effort and data fragmentation.
“This puts Klook in a strong position to solidify its first-mover advantage on generative AI, and translate its wealth of travel experience into immense value for its customers and partners, no matter where their journey takes them,” said Bajwa.
Xiong also believes the expanded partnership will create a competitive edge for Klook that will mean improved customer experiences, internal productivity and more, in the long run.
Klook laid out its upcoming phase of growth while celebrating its 10th anniversary, which is focused on the creator economy. While its eye remains trained on expansion in Asia, Klook is also looking at eventually tapping into Western markets.
The company has made headlines for recent ventures including its partnership with social media platform TikTok to integrate booking capabilities, announced in August. Klook also received $210 million in its Series E+ funding round last year, not long after it announced its partnership with Google Cloud.
