Booking Holdings has named Glenn Fogel as CEO of Booking.com, with the incumbent, Gillian Tans, becoming chairwoman of the group's division.
The sudden change at the top of Booking.com, announced today, is effective immediately.
Fogel says under his stewardship, which he'll take on alongside his existing duties as president and CEO of Booking Holdings, he will "identify ways to drive more collaboration and integration to strengthen the company's positioning for long-term success."
The shift to chairwoman for Tans ends a three-year stint as CEO at Booking.com after she took over the reigns from Darren Huston.
Huston was CEO of both Booking.com and Booking Holdings (then the Priceline Group) but left over allegations of misconduct with an employee.
Tans was one of just a handful of female CEOs in the online travel sector.

Fogel says: "Booking.com has become an industry leader with more than 17,500 employees across more than 190 offices all over the world who serve Booking.com's growing base of global customers and partners.
"Gillian has made invaluable contributions to this success and has been a passionate advocate for Booking.com's entrepreneurial culture and values during her 17 years with the company."
A former-hotel exec at Golden Tulip Worldwide, Tans joined Booking.com in 2002 as one of its first employees.
Prior to the CEO job in 2016, she held roles in the global sales, operations, IT, content and customer care departments, eventually becoming president and chief operating officer in 2011.
