Air Canada has reached an agreement for its new distribution capability-driven content to be distributed by Sabre.
The partnership means Sabre-connected agents will be able to access the carrier's NDC fares in the coming months.
Air Canada's distribution cost recovery charge (DRC), announced in April, to be levied on bookings made via the global distribution system Edifact from mid-June, will be waived once the NDC channel is up and running.
The airline unveiled a raft of distribution updates in April laying out the ways travel agents can access its inventory going forward including building their own connections, partnering with third-party technology providers, using the airline’s portal or via GDS.
Speaking at the time, Mark Nasr, senior vice president of products, marketing and e-commerce for Air Canada, said: "In addition to the tech being old, limited and arcane, the financial model associated with classic distribution has become unsustainable period, end of story.”
